My two string orchestra pieces Poem x 3 and Matin respectively written for the senior and junior high school students won the composition competition held by National Taiwan Arts Education Center. The two pieces will be used as teaching materials for the youth string orchestras at high schools in Taiwan. Received 4000 US dollars for the award.

Chien-Yu was awarded for the honorable mention from The Indie Gathering International Film Scoring Compeition. 34 winners were awarded from 543 international applicants. The winning score will be screened in The Indie Gathering International Film Festival. Convention. Competition in Cleveland, Ohio in August 2010.

Chien-Yu was honored by the Study Abroad Scholarship from Taiwan's government. The government will offer 32000 US dollars for the coming 2 years as a stipend for pursuing his doctoral degree at UCLA.
