September 20th, 2011* Chien-Yu will be a graduate teaching assistant at UCLA from the fall quarter of 2011. August 17th, 2011 Chien-Yu just signed the contract with the smartphone manufacturer HTC as a music provider writing music for their promotional videos from now on. July 28th, 2011 The song Moon in Sun Moon Lake was a selected song by the Sun Moon Lake Songwriting Contest held by Nantou County Government, Taiwan. May 3rd, 2011 My two string orchestra pieces Poem x 3 and Matin respectively written for the senior and junior high school students won the composition competition held by National Taiwan Arts Education Center. The two pieces will be used as teaching materials for the youth string orchestras at high schools in Taiwan. Received 4000 US dollars for the award. March 31st, 2011 The short animation The Lighthouse I scored for last year won Best Original Score Award from Los Angeles New Wave International Film Festival. June 28th, 2010 Chien-Yu was awarded for the honorable mention from The Indie Gathering International Film Scoring Compeition. 34 winners were awarded from 543 international applicants. The winning score will be screened in The Indie Gathering International Film Festival. Convention. Competition in Cleveland, Ohio in August 2010. May 5th, 2010 Sea, trio for violin, cello,and piano will be peformed by Bortana Popova, Phoebe Ping, and Howard Chen at Schoenberg Concert Hall on May 5th, 2010, 8pm. April 9th, 2010 Chien-Yu was honored by the Study Abroad Scholarship from Taiwan's government. The government will offer 32000 US dollars for the coming 2 years as a stipend for pursuing his doctoral degree at UCLA. February 19th, 2010 Two Chinese Love Songs, for soprano and piano will be performed by soprano Hsing An Chen and pianist Howard Chen in Hsing An Chen's personal recital at Jan Popper Theater on Feb. 19th, 2010, 8pm.
